Rachel Sproles is a 14-year-old home schooled student who owns her own business! She runs Sierra Candles from her home where she lives with her family. She is a daughter of Mark and Margaret Sproles. She decided to start making candles two years ago since it was something she enjoyed, and she believed she could make a profit doing it. She offers her homemade candles in canning jars, as votives, tarts and floaters in many different scents. She offers to fill your candle jars for about 50 cents an ounce. She also has homemade fizzy bath bombs, which are carbonated and fizz as they dissolve in bath water. She is very active in 4-H, with 25 projects this year (2004) including photography, sewing, foods, goats and other animals. Her other hobbies include scrap booking and creative writing. She is very active in her church and traveled last year on a mission trip to work, paint and help with Vacation Bible School in Chicago. This year her mission trip will be to a church in Kentucky to help as needed. (Excerpt From Post & Mail - 06/29/04)
